RFQ checklist: drawings, grades, coatings, and quantities
A practical RFQ checklist to speed up magnet sourcing and prevent rework.
Last updated on 2026/01/26
Why a structured RFQ matters
Most delays happen because drawings, grades, or coatings are unclear. A complete RFQ reduces back-and-forth and improves quote accuracy.
RFQ essentials
- Drawings or sketches: dimensions, tolerances, and critical features.
- Grade and temperature class: specify both strength and temperature needs.
- Coating requirement: nickel, zinc, epoxy, or other.
- Magnetization direction: axial, radial, diametral, multi-pole.
- Quantity and target schedule: initial order and expected repeats.
Helpful additions
- Operating environment (temperature, humidity, chemicals).
- Target pull force or performance requirements.
- Packaging and labeling requirements.
- Inspection or documentation requests (RoHS/REACH/COA).
Common causes of quote delays
- Missing tolerance or coating specs.
- Unclear magnetization direction.
- No temperature or environment details.
